The U.S. Junior Water Ski Team won the overall team gold medal and four U.S. water ski athletes won individual gold medals in respective events at the 15th Junior Water Ski World Championships, Jan. 8-11, in Lima, Peru. The United States tallied 7,564.68 points at the biennial event. Canada earned the silver medal with 7,125.05 points and France earned the bronze medal with 6,813.66 points. Athletes and teams from 21 countries competed in the four-day tournament as the world team title and world individual titles in slalom, tricks, jumping and overall were at stake. U.S. athletes combined to win eight individual medals.

Members of the U.S. Junior Water Ski Team were: Brooke Baldwin (Windermere, Fla.), Julianna Boskus (Elkins, Ark.), Anna Gay (Winter Garden, Fla.), and Nick Lang (Gilbert, Ariz.). U.S. athletes competing as independents were: Bailey Austin (Buda, Texas), Samantha Dumala (Wellington, Fla.), Taylor Garcia (Winter Garden, Fla.), Abbi Grathwohl (Martindale, Texas), Corbin Guyer (Pierson, Fla.), Ruth McCreary (Azle, Texas) and Allie Nicholson (Gallatin, Tenn.).

Brenda Baldwin (Windermere, Fla.), Jody Johnson (Nashville, Tenn.) and Dr. Marc Aiken (Johnson City, Tenn.) served as coach, captain and physician, respectively.

Brooke Baldwin won the gold medal in girls' overall, scoring 2,622.35 points. She also earned the silver medal in slalom (2 buoys at 38 feet off) and the bronze medal in tricks (7,530 points). Dumala won the gold medal in girls' slalom for the second consecutive time, scoring a Junior Worlds tournament record 4 buoys at 38 feet off. Garcia won gold medals in boys' jumping (190 feet/57.9 meters) and overall (2,677.87 points). Gay won the gold medal in girls' tricks, scoring 8,470 points. Lang earned the silver medal in boys' overall (2,497.47 points).

In other events, Danylo Fil'chenko (Ukraine) won the gold medal in boys' tricks (10,020 points); Robert Pigozzi (Dominican Republic) won the gold medal in boys' slalom (5 buoys at 38 feet off); and Aliaksandra Danisheuskaya (Belarus) won the gold medal in girls' jumping (146 feet/ 44.4 meters).

The United States has now won the world team title in 1990, 1992, 1994, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014. France won in 1998 and 2006. Canada won in 2004.
