The Championships drew to a close yesterday in Milano, Italy. Held from the 13th to the 17th of July at the incredible Idroscalo facility, this bi-annual competition was the largest Wakeboard World Championships in the IWWF history. 253 Athletes representing 36 IWWF affiliated federations were competing in all categories from under 9's through to open men. Proving the tremendous growth being seen in the sport, the 2011 Championships also saw entries from Columbia, Ecuador, Mexico and Latvia, all competing for the first time. In a joint co-operation with MasterCraft and Dieter Hofer & Pier Decia of MasterCraft.CH, two Parks Edition X-Stars powered by MasterCraft's new engine partner - Ilmor, delivered the world famous wakes for the athletes in competition.
In a tense final, the grandstand's at the Idroscalo site were packed with excited spectators all anxious to watch the highly anticipated Open Men's final.
As expected, Team MasterCraft athletes delivered breathtaking performances. The competition favorite Harley Clifford (AUS) secured first place on the podium followed by past World Champion Andrew Adkison (USA) finishing in second.

Focus now turns to Dubna, Russia, the site of six previous MasterCraft World Cup stops where the World Waterski Championships was officially opened last night in a spectacular ceremony and preliminary rounds are now well under way.
